The second infrastructure workshop will build on the outcomes of the first one held in November 2020 and include:

- Updates on marine infrastructures in Svalbard
- SIOS core data - what next for marine variables?
- Harmonising marine observations and data collections

This annual meeting brings the SIOS community together for science seminars, working group meetings and plenary discussions. One of the highlights is the release of newest issue of the State of Environmental Science (SESS) report.

Un team di ricerca internazionale guidato dall’Istituto di Scienze Polari (CNR-ISP) e di Scienze Marine (CNR-ISMAR) del Cnr con il contributo dell’Università di Cambridge, ha ricostruito la storia recente del riscaldamento alle porte dell'Oceano artico, in una regione chiamata lo Stretto di Fram, tra la Groenlandia e le Svalbard. Il lavoro, pubblicato su Science Advances, data per la prima volta l’inizio del riscaldamento del più piccolo degli oceani e prevede un ulteriore aumento in futuro a causa del cambiamento climatico.
