The EU funded project POLARIN invites the scientific community to submit proposals to access 49 Research Infrastructures (RIs) in both polar regions contributing to addressing the key research priorities.

Apply for accessing polar research infrastructures until the 28th of November 2024, 4 pm CET  -  MORE INFO

POLARIN is an international network of polar research infrastructures and their services, aiming at addressing the scientific challenges of the polar regions. The network includes a wide array of complementary and interdisciplinary top level research infrastructures: Arctic and Antarctic research stations, research vessels and icebreakers operating at both poles, observatories, data infrastructures and ice and sediment core repositories.

If you want to learn more about this unique opportunity to access 49 Research Infrastructures in both polar regions, or if you have any questions, join us on 21 October 2024 at 14:00 CEST.

Applications are open for the IASC Fellowship Program 2025. The IASC Fellowship Program is meant to engage early career researchers in the work of the IASC Working Groups, and a total of 9 Fellowships will be offered for 2025.

The deadline for applications is 23 October 2024.

- Interazioni Terra/Ghiaccio/Clima; Oceano, Litosfera e Atmosfera Antartiche;
- La vita in Antartide; Evoluzione, adattamento, biodiversità e biocenosi;
- Astronomia, astrofisica e space weather;
- Impatto antropico e contaminazione ambientale;
- Biomedicina e psicologia;
- Tecnologia in Antartide
Le domande dovranno essere compilate in lingua inglese a partire dalle ore 12.00 del 16 ottobre 2024 e trasmesse entro e non oltre le ore 12.00 del 27 novembre 2024

The SCAR Fellowship Programme is designed to encourage the active involvement of early-career researchers in furthering our understanding of Antarctica.

The Fellowships enable early-career researchers to join a project team from another country, opening up new opportunities and often creating partnerships that last many years and over many Antarctic research seasons.

Deadline Extended to 9 September 2024

Call for Applications for the 40th Cycle of National PhD Programme in Polar Sciences - 33 grants available
Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in liaison with other Italian Universities and National Reserch Institutes, has officially launched the call for applications for the 40th cycle (academic year 2024/2025) of the National PhD Programme in Polar Sciences, which is organised around 6 main curricula:
1. Biology, Ecology and Biodiversity, 2. Human impacts, 3. Solid Earth, 4. Ocean and Cryosphere, 5. Astronomy, Space and Earth Observations, 6. Climate System.
Application Deadline: 19 August 2024, 1:00 p.m. (Italian time)
Programme Start: December 2024
Duration: 3 years (ending November 2027)
For more information and to access the full call for applications, visit the Ca’ Foscari University website.

Applications for the 2024 Fellowship Scheme are now open and close 31 July 2024

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) initiated the SCAR Fellowship Programme in 2002. The aim was to encourage the active involvement of early-career researchers in Antarctic scientific research and to build new connections and further strengthen international capacity and cooperation in Antarctic research. Since the initiation of the programme, more than 80 SCAR Fellowships have been awarded.

The SIOS Remote Sensing Working Group (SIOS RSWG) periodically publishes three surveys to receive inputs from the Svalbard science community. All the responses will be used to generate documents useful for the Svalbard science community.

The following survey is open until 31 July 2024

 Competition: design an infographic describing plastic pollution in polar regions

The SCAR Plastic Action Group (Plastic-AG) announces a competition for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to create an infographic describing plastic pollution in polar regions. The infographic should synthetise available scientific literature and visualize data about plastic pollution in polar regions (in the Arctic and/or Antarctica), including micro- and nanoplastics, to represent the latest advancements in polar research, including key concerns for polar ecosystems.

Deadline extended to 15th June 2024
