Professor Sergej Seergevich Zilitinkevich passed away on February 16th. His outstanding contribution in geophysical fluid turbulence will mark a milestone in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, and will continue to be a light for the studies of atmosphere and seas in polar regions.
Grazie Marino.
Three days of exchange experiences about research processes using marine sediment records.
The objective of INQUA-MARE is to bring together researchers studying recent (Holocene) sediment records from the Arctic, Antarctic and the Tropics, as these regions are linked by thermohaline circulation and atmospheric teleconnection.
The INStabilities & Thresholds in ANTarctica (INSTANT) Scientific Research Programme aims to quantify the Antarctic ice sheet contribution to past and future sealevel change, from improved understanding of interactions and feedbacks with atmosphere, ocean and solid Earth.
This international conference is the first major conference of this SCAR Scientific Research Programme.
The EU-H2020 funded INTERACT (International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic) opens a call for research groups to apply for Transnational Access and Remote Access to 39 (TA) and 26 (RA) research stations.
The current call for Transnational and Remote Access applications is open until 15th November 2022, and it is for access taking place in April -October 2023. You can find the TA/RA Call information, descriptions of stations and their facilities, and registration to the INTERACCESS on-line application system from the INTERACT website.

Programma aggiornato
The IMC2022 will take place from September 11 – 15 2022 in Innsbruck, Austria. IMC2022 builds upon the previous mountain conferences and aims to continue this scientific conference series exclusively targeted towards mountain-research. Hosted in the Alps, IMC2022 provides an excellent opportunity for experts from different disciplines to discuss mountain-related issues in a cross-disciplinary setting with flexible session formats. The key goals of the conference are to synthesize and enhance our understanding of mountain systems, in particular their response and resilience to global change.

The International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) are pleased to confirm that preparatory work has started for a 5th International Polar Year (IPY) in 2032-33. Organizing the 5th IPY 25 years after the last IPY in 2007-08 reflects the urgent need for coordinated international research to tackle the biggest challenges of polar research, for both the Polar Regions themselves and for the world as a whole.
In October 2023, the organisations currently involved in the Planning Group have released an inital concept note and timeline for the 5th International Polar Year 2032-33.
All webinars will be held at the same times (CEST): 10:00 – 11:00 and 11:30 – 12:30 each day between 28 September and 2 October 2020. - WEB SITE
Webinars are open to the public, and all meetings will be recorded.
