SIOS−Planet cooperation project proposal call to demonstrate the usability of high-resolution Planet data in the Arctic

This call of proposals is to provide free access to high-resolution optical satellite data acquired by Planet’s satellite constellation to stimulate geospatial product generation in Svalbard. Proposal submission webform will open 2 January 2023.

A special issue of Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (ISSN 2077-1312). This special issue belongs to the section Marine Ecology.

This Special Issue is devoted to experimental studies and reviews, relating to any aspect of Biogeochemical Cycles and Ecosystem Functioning in Extreme Environments (e.g., polar regions, deep sea, Hydrothermal vents, Deep Hypersaline Anoxic Basins, etc) and aims to contribute to highlighting recent findings and acquiring a comprehensive perspective on the current status of this broad research field. All article types are welcome.

Progetto europeo Beyond Epica Oldest Ice
Riapre il campo remoto di Little Dome C per la 2° campagna di perforazione del progetto di ricerca internazionale coordinato dall’Istituto di Scienze Polari del Cnr (CNR-ISP), che mira a ottenere, attraverso l’analisi di una carota di ghiaccio estratta dalla profondità della calotta, dati sull’evoluzione delle temperature, sulla composizione dell’atmosfera e sul ciclo del carbonio, tornando indietro nel tempo di 1 milione e mezzo di anni. L’obiettivo è avviare la perforazione profonda e scendere di alcune centinaia di metri. Sul campo 15 persone, tra cui 4 italiani.

The third EU-PolarNet 2 Call for Services is now open! With the call, EU-PolarNet 2 asks to formulate activities related to research needs of the European Polar Research Programme.

A kind of seed money will be offered to support the preparation, planning or development of new ideas and lines of research, (e.g. workshops, desk studies or travels).

Applications must be received by 20th of December 2022 – 14:00 CEST.

SIOS seeks proposals of high scientific quality to develop the observing system and research infrastructure in the field of Earth System Science in Svalbard.
