Una 'traversa' sul plateau in Antartide per stimare l'aumento del livelo dei mari
Dal 5 dicembre 2019 al 25 gennaio 2020, una squadra composta da scienziati francesi del Cnrs, dell’Università Grenoble Alpes e da scienziati italiani del Cnr e dell’Ingv percorrerà 1318 km tra andata e ritorno in mezzo al plateau dell’Antartide, su una traversa organizzata dall’Istituto Polare Francese (Ipev) con la collaborazione del Programma nazionale di ricerche in Antartide (Pnra).
Tra i ricercatori italiani sarà presente in campo Andrea Spolaor (CNR-ISP) .

This webinar will focus on; (1) How to access or request high-resolution satellite data useful for Arctic scientists?, (2) Which parameters one should think about while requesting data?, (3) What kind of data is available?, (4) What are these data useful for? In brief, the webinar speakers should guide the diverse arctic science community in demonstrating the usefulness of the high resolution data and the ways they can access the data. Un team di ricerca internazionale guidato dall’Istituto di Scienze Polari (CNR-ISP) e dall’Istituto di ricerca sulle acque (CNR-IRSA) ha scoperto un fenomeno sorprendente: l'aumento delle temperature globali ha portato i ghiacciai dell'Himalaya a raffreddare sempre più l'aria a contatto con la superficie ghiacciata, mitigando a livello locale le temperature. Lo studio, realizzato in collaborazione con l'Institute of Science and Technology Austria, è stato appena pubblicato su Nature Geoscience e spiega come tale raffreddamento, riscontrato in tutta la catena himalayana, potrebbe preservare il permafrost e gli ecosistemi d’alta quota.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising an Earth Observation (EO) training course in collaboration with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System, SIOS. The course will be held for researchers, students, PhD students and young professionals who use EO technology within their research or work and want to improve their knowledge of remote sensing. In total 24 students can attend the summer school.
