È stato pubblicato sul sito del ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca il bando 2022 del Programma Nazionale di Ricerca in Antartide, con 6,44 milioni di euro, per la presentazione dei progetti di ricerca rivolti ad approfondire le conoscenze in Antartide e, in particolare, a ottenere una migliore comprensione dei processi di interazione e connessione fra i diversi comparti del sistema Terra (criosfera, idrosfera, atmosfera, biosfera e litosfera).

Breve Descrizione: le scienze polari tra Facebook e Instagram: i social possono aiutarci a raccontare la ricerca nei luoghi più freddi del mondo? Partendo dall’esperienza di questi ultimi mesi della gestione e produzione di contenuti sui canali social dell’Istituto di Scienze Polari, faremo una breve panoramica delle attività di ISP sui social e sul sito web, per capire meglio cosa è stato fatto, cosa ha funzionato e cosa non ha funzionato, e in che modo agire per veicolare non solo i contenuti scientifici, ma anche il valore delle persone, dell’esperienza e dei luoghi dalla ricerca.

Celli Giuditta

Celli Giuditta Polar Science PhD candidate at the Ca’Foscari University of Venice since 2021, she holds a master’s degree with honours in Chemistry from the University of Venice. The overwintering working experience in Antarctica in 2019 allowed the deepening into polar and snow chemistry and field expertise.

For her PhD thesis she works on the photochemistry of halogens and mercury in superficial snow and Antarctic ice cores.

Artoni Claudio

Artoni Claudio Snow scientist and technical manager of the EuroCold Lab laboratory system of the Department of Environmental and Earth Sciences (DISAT) of the University of Milan-Bicocca. He gained a PhD in Polar Sciences at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice with a thesis on the optical properties of mineral dust in snow and has a background in geology and Earth sciences. He has participated in many missions in Arctic, Antarctica and the Alps both as a scientific leader and as field risk manager. For some years he has been a national instructor of the Italian Avalanche Service and a professional member of the American Avalanche Association.

Marzaro Jessica

Marzaro Jessica Graduated in Communication Strategies at the University of Padua, during her studies she could experimented different formats of scientific communication, being part of the Planet Book photobook project (Contrasto editor) and participating several times at the public presentations of the book. She wrote as a volunteer for the CICAP online magazine, Query, deepening the theme of the relations between science, pseudoscience and society.
She graduated at the Master’s in Science Communication “Franco Prattico” at SISSA (Scuola Internazionale di Studi Superiori Avanzati) in Trieste. During the Master experience, she had the opportunity to test her skills trying different medium and formats for scientific communication and to learn the theorical basis. During her traineeship, she carried out support activities for the institutional communication of the Institute of Polar Sciences of CNR, managing and creating the contents and the strategy for the social media channels.
Currently, she is handling the presence of the Beyond EPICA – Oldest Ice Core project on social media and she is also involved on outreach and disseminations activities related to the project. She is also taking care of the development of Beyond EPICA communications strategy with partners and the relations with them.

Martedì 5 Aprile torna a Genova Italia chiama Artico, il festival di Osservatorio Artico.

La manifestazione si svolgerà in una giornata intera di incontri e tavole rotonde che sarà possibile seguire in presenza ed in streaming.

Parteciperanno all'evento Vito Vitale (CNR-ISP) e, collegata con la Stazione Artica Dirigibile Italia, Stefania Gilardoni (CNR-ISP).

Since the Antarctic Treaty entered into force in 1961, representatives of the participating nations have met regularly for the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM).

The 44th ATCM, from 23 May till 2 June 2022, is being hosted by Germany in Berlin. Matters on the agenda include topical questions relating to Antarctica and further developments on the coldest continent on our planet.

The Southern Ocean Action Plan aims to mobilise the #SouthernOcean community & inspire all stakeholders to seek engagement and leverage opportunities.

PhD in Polar Science

The objective of the PhD programme in Polar Sciences at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, is to prepare students with in-depth scientific competences and original and innovative research activities for becoming experts on topics related to recent and past environmental and climate changes of the polar regions and of the glaciated areas of high altitude/low latitudes sites.
The programme is taught entirely in English. Duration: 4 years
