The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising an Advanced Training Course on Land Remote Sensing with the focus on Snow and Glaciers in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck.
The Advanced Training Course on Land Remote Sensing for Snow and Glaciers aims at: 1) training the next generation of scientists and professionals in remote sensing of snow and glaciers; 2) explaining the theoretical principles, processing algorithms and data products from multiple sources including optical, thermal and microwave; 3) stimulating the use of EO in the domains of water cycle science, water management and hazards e.g. floods.
The DEEPICE project (Research and training network on understanding Deep icE corE Proxies to Infer past antarctiC climatE dynamics), funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Innovative Training Network) calls for applications for 15 fully funded PhD positions (early-stage researcher, ESR) to be filled by October 2021, with attractive complementary training activities and associated research and travel budgets.

The theme of the 16th ICRSS is Convergence at the Poles – Addressing urgent research questions and management needs through remote sensing in the Arctic and Antarctic.
This symposium deals specifically with remote sensing applications in the polar environments, both Arctic and Antarctic. Earth’s Polar Regions feature cold-climate environments characterized by unique landscapes, biota, and processes.
Towards a pollution free society
The Environmental Chemistry Division of the Società Chimica Italiana and the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice will organize the 18th ICCE Conference 2023 in Venice (Italy), a biennial conference under the auspice of the Division of Chemistry and the Environment (DCE) of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS).
To Who it is addressed: All scientists working on biodiversity in Svalbard
Funded by SIOS and hosted by the Institute of Polar Sciences (CNR-ISP), Messina (Italy), the 1st International Workshop on Biodiversity in Svalbard Archipelago aims at being a multidisciplinary arena where to discuss the state of the art and the gaps in the knowledge on Arctic biodiversity, and the way for future development in the studies of this vulnerable polar environment.
Organizing Committee:
- Nicoletta Ademollo, Gabriella Caruso, Francesco Filiciotto, Angelina Lo Giudice, Maria Papale, Francesco Smedile, Vito Vitale (CNR-ISP);
- Adriana Profeta (CNR-IRBIM);
- Angela Augusti, Luigi Paolo D'Acqui, Olga Gavrichkova, Stefano Ventura (CNR-IRET);
- Nicoletta Cannone (Univ. Insubria).
Sono intervenuti inoltre, in collegamento remoto, Antje Boetius, direttore Alfred Wegener Institute, Germania, Jane Francis, direttore British Antarctic Survey, Gran Bretagna, Yan Ropert-Coudert, vice-direttore Istituto Polare Emile Victor, Francia e Ole Arve Misund, direttore Istituto Polare Norvegese, Norvegia.
Nei giorni 23 e 24 settembre il convegno è proseguito con la presentazione delle attività di ricerca che si svolgono nell’ambito delle aree tematiche dell’ istituto e delle attività svolte dai gruppi di lavoro a supporto dell’Istituto.

1st workshop National Doctoral Programme in Polar Sciences
From 24th to 26th January 2024, in the Danilo Mainardi Auditorium of the Scientific Campus in via Torino, will take place the 1st Workshop of the National Doctoral Programme in Polar Sciences (DIN-SP)
The first seminar will take place on 25 February from 19:00-20:00 UTC:
1. Mass spectrometry under the ice, Carlo Barbante (CNR-ISP / Ca' Foscari University of Venice)
2. High res = high gain? New frontiers in ice core trace element analysis with laser ablation ICP-MS, Pascal Bohleber (Ca' Foscari University of Venice)

The 2021 WAIS Workshop will be a hybrid workshop, with the in-person option occuring at the Algonkian Regional Park Woodlands Conference Center in Sterling, VA.
Arctic Circle is the largest network of international dialogue and cooperation on the future of the Arctic and our Planet. It is an open democratic platform with participation from governments, organizations, corporations, universities, think tanks, environmental associations, indigenous communities, concerned citizens, and others. Draft program.
The 2022 Arctic Circle Assembly will be held in Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, Reykjavík.
The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) Secretariat invites proposals for new working groups to commence activities in late 2022.
SCOR working groups are formed of not more than 10 Full Members and 10 Associate Members, to deliberate on a narrowly focused topic and develop a peer-reviewed publication and/or some other product that will advance the topic on which the working group is focused. The group’s work is intended to be completed in 4 years or less. Instructions, guidelines, and template.
