ICYS seminar series - Programme

Professor Sergej Seergevich Zilitinkevich passed away on February 16th. His outstanding contribution in geophysical fluid turbulence will mark a milestone in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, and will continue to be a light for the studies of atmosphere and seas in polar regions.

The State of Environmental Science in Svalbard (SESS) report 2020 was released during the SIOS Polar Night Week in Longyearbyen, January 2021. It is the third issue of an annual series of reports published by SIOS.

SESS report 2020 – Summary for Stakeholders

SESS report 2020 – Full report

Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System-Knowledge Centre (SIOS-KC) and its Remote Sensing Working Group (RSWG) has prepared a survey to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on the Svalbard science community, long-term monitoring programmes, and other field activities in Svalbard during 2020. This survey will be used to make a strategy for the upcoming (2021) field season in Svalbard. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete this survey. The survey will be closed on 7th January 2021.
