On May 14, 2026, on the occasion of the centenary of the transpolar flight of the airship Norge, the Institute of Polar Sciences of the CNR organized, in collaboration with the Institute for the European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas and the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering, a study day entitled “Discovering the Arctic on the centenary of the flight of the airship Norge.” 

The event will take place at the conference hall of the Rome1 Montelibretti Territorial Research Area. On this occasion, the volume published by CNR Edizioni, “100 Years over the North Pole,” will be presented. Several topics will then be explored in greater depth, ranging from the history of Arctic exploration to the research activities carried out by the CNR at both poles. A live connection with the CNR-ISP base “Dirigibile Italia” in Ny-Ålesund (Svalbard Islands) has also been arranged. - Poster
